1. Introduction

httpy is a Python library for building websites and web applications. This chapter introduces the library in several ways. First, with a narrative overview from 30,000 feet; then, with an example. After getting your feet wet thus, I describe httpy positively, by the bells and whistles it does have, and in relief, pointing out what it is explicitly not. Lastly, I attempt to locate httpy on the Python web programming map, with a view towards defending its existence.
